| Olympic Hopefuls Exhibition and Benefit | |||

| 2003 Exhibition: St. Louis Skating Club sponsored an exhibition of skating
programs by top competitors from St. Louis and the surrounding
area on October 4, 2003 at the Brentwood Ice Arena. The featured skater,
Matt Savoie, debuted this season's short program. Savoie, who is coming
back from knee surgery last spring, is a World Figure Skating Championships
Competitor, a Grand Prix Finals bronze medalist, a U.S. Figure Skating
Championship's Bronze medalist, and a second alternate to the 2002
Olympic Team. Savoie graduated summa cum laude from Bradley
University with a B.A. in Political Science and a minor in Biology.

| Kelsey's in her second year at the senior level. She hopes to qualify for her second Nationals and place higher than last year. Her dream goal is to make an Olympic and World team. Kelsey skated her short program and her long program, "Sahara," choreographed by Andrei Kirov, Paula Wagener, and Pam Forster. Pam Forster is her primary coach, and Jill Davis Irvin is her assistant coach. Kelsey was the first skater from Missouri to pass the ISI Freestyle 10 test, the highest test offered by the Ice Skating Institute. Katie skated her senior short program to the soundtrack from The American President, choreographed by Catarina Lindgren. Her coaches are Linda Branan and Gene Hefron. Katie qualified for the 2000 and 2001 U.S. Nationals as a Senior Lady and was the 2003 Upper Great Lakes Regional Champion. She placed fourth in the National Collegiate Championships in august. Brandon Mroz, Novice Men Brandon skated his Novice Long program to "The Nightmare Before Christmas" choreographed by his coach, Debbie Dodge Howe. He is a two-time Upper Great Lakes Regional champion and Junior Nationals finalist at the Juvenile and Intermediate levels. Brandon wants to make it to nationals and place in the top 8 so he makes the team to represent the United States internationally. |
John Coughlin and Lucy Galleher, Junior Pairs (Photo: Ledin) John and Lucy skated their Junior short program to "Espana Cani." They are coached by Sharon and Randy Brilliantine and Norma Sahlin. They met at a USFSA pair camp in the spring of 2002. Lucy moved from Denver to Kansas City to train. At the 2003 Midwestern Sectionals, they placed fifth. They recently were named to the U.S. National team to compete at the Junior Grand Prix in Okaya, Japan. |
Joel Loera, Novice Men (Photo: Ledin) Joel skated his Novice Short pro- gram to "Father Time," choreographed by Shannon Nester and Shelley Winters-Stein. He is coached by Winters-Stein. Joel missed last year's entry deadline for Regionals after recovering from an auto accident that left him in a coma and on life support for two days. He is active in his church's youth group and plans to skate his "personal best" this year. | |
Maggy Geraghty, Intermediate Ladies (Photo: Ledin) Maggie skated her short program to "Fanfare for the Common Man." She's in the eighth grade. Her skating accomp- lishments include landing double toe- double loop-double toe in competition, and performing as a special local guest skater at Owens Center's Annual Ice Show in spring 2003. |
Kristina Sit, Intermediate Ladies Kristina skated her short program to "America" from West Side Story, choreographed by Paula Wagener. She is coached by Pam Forster. She's working on ISI Freestyle 9, and her favorite jump is the double-loop. |
Nathan Raymond, Intermediate Men (Photo: Ledin) Nathan skated his short program to "Fever," choreographed by coaches Karen Hutter Branson and Gene Hefron. He qualified for Junior National at the Juvenile level in 2002 and hopes to qualify in both dance and freestyle this year. | |
Natalie Burnette, Juvenile Ladies Natalie skated her program to "Man from Snowy River," choreographed by Paula Wagener and Pam Forster. She is coached by Forster. Natalie won bronze at the 2002 Pre-Juvenile Ladies event at Upper Great Lakes. |
Jessica Strong, Juvenile Ladies (Photo: Ledin) Jessica skated to Vivaldi's "Winter." She is coached by Linda Branan and has passed the ISI Freestyle 8 test. She skated at ISI SkateAsia 2001 in Hong Kong. This will be her fourth Regionals. |
Kristin Walker, Juvenile Ladies (Photo: Ledin) Kristin skated to "Dixie-Yankee Doodle," choreographed by Shelley Winters-Stein. She is second among Pacific Northwest Juvenile Ladies in the Future Champions Series. | |

Tara and Jonathan skated their free dance to "Thoroughly Modern Mille," choreographed by Debbie Dodge Howe, Sima Baker, and Debbie Lane. They are coahed by Baker and have skated together seven months. In February, Jonathan became the youngest boy to pass the Pre-Silver dance test. He hopes to compete in dance at Senior nationals someday. Tara recently passed her first pre-gold dance and hopes to compete on a synchro team in college. ![]() Molly and Nathan skated their free dance to "Crazy Little Thing Called Love," choreographed by Bruce Hurd, Andy Stroup and their coach - Karen Hutter Branson. Both Molly and Nathan are looking forward to competing at Regionals and Junior Nationals in dance. |

Jonathan Cohn, Pre-Juvenile Men (Photo: Action Photo) Jonathan skated to "Hercules," choreographed by Debbie Dodge Howe. Cohn is coached by Howe and will compete in Pre-Juvenile Boys at this year's Upper Great Lakes Regional. His favorite part of his program is footwork, and he wants to be able to do footwork like Alexei Yagudin. |
McKinzie Daniels, Pre-Juvenile Ladies (Photo: Action Photo) McKinzie skated to a "Sound of Music Medley," choreographed by Susan Liss. She is coached by Liss and Danielle Cooper. McKinzie won two gold medals at this year's State Games of America. After seeing the last Olympics, McKinzie decided she wants to compete in the Olympics. | |

Taylar dedicated her program to her Grand Pap Nester for making it possible for her to get the chance to go to Regionals. |

Karen Hutter Branson, Masters Interpretive (Photo: Action Photo) Twenty years after quitting skating at the age of seventeen, Karen returned to competition and captured two gold medals in Masters Junior Freestyle and Masters Interpretive at the 2002 Adult Nationals. At the 2003 Adult Nationals, she returned to get another gold skating the program she skated here, "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy." She earned a silver in the freestyle event. | |||
